National grid gas supply rises as LNG unloading resumes

Gas supply across the country has begun to improve after liquid natural gas (LNG) discharge from a cargo ship to the floating terminal resumed following a temporary halt caused by bad weather.

Unloading operations restarted around 7:30 AM on Friday (September 25) as weather conditions improved, leading to a steady increase in national gas transmission.

By 10:00 AM, daily LNG supply reached nearly 730 million cubic feet, alongside approximately 1.6 billion cubic feet produced from local gas fields, bringing the total national grid supply to around 2.34 billion cubic feet.

Earlier on Thursday, the LNG cargo 'Pacific Success', arriving from Indonesia via the spot market, anchored off Maheshkhali in Cox's Bazar but could not discharge its cargo at Summit's Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) due to adverse sea conditions.

This temporary disruption had cut the country's LNG supply by nearly half, leaving national pipelines dependent on a single operational terminal that delivered roughly 590 million cubic feet of gas per hour.
