Two Israeli soldiers killed by own drone blast

Two Israeli reserve soldiers were killed after a drone operated by their own forces crashed and exploded in northern Gaza, the Israeli military said on Friday.

The soldiers were identified as 24-year-old Nadav Kali and 23-year-old Ofek Moalem, both serving with the 16th Brigade.

Brig Gen Elad Tzuri said the soldiers approached the crash site after the drone completed its first mission. During its second mission, the drone crashed inside a military post and exploded as they reached the area, seriously injuring both.

They were taken to Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon, where they were later pronounced dead.

Israeli media reported that the drone was carrying explosives. The military has suspended drone operations pending an initial investigation.
