Allowances for various forces, agencies raised from 2028

Until December 31, 2027, the employees concerned will continue to receive allowances under the existing rules and previous government orders.

The Finance Division of the Ministry of Finance has issued several gazettes setting the revised rates based on grades and length of service under the National Pay Scale 2026. The gazettes, dated September 17, were published on Wednesday (September 23).

Special allowances for members of the Special Security Force (SSF) and compensation allowances for other employees of the force have been increased by 20% based on the amounts drawn as of June 30, 2026.

Similarly, special allowances for military and civilian employees of the National Security Intelligence (NSI) and Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI) have also been increased by 20% based on their allowances as of June 30, 2026.

The increased allowances will take effect from January 1, 2028. Until December 31, 2027, employees will receive allowances at the existing rates.

The gazettes said the allowances will not be calculated as a percentage of basic salary under the National Pay Scale 2026. Employees on deputation who receive allowances fixed for the respective force or agency will not be entitled to other applicable risk, special, compensation or defence service allowances.

New border allowances have been fixed for Subedar Majors and personnel below that rank in the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), based on pay grades and five stages of length of service.

For Grade 20 employees, the monthly allowance will range from Tk 1,440 for those with less than five years of service to Tk 3,120 for those with 20 years or more. The rates range from Tk 1,560 to Tk 3,240 for Grade 19, Tk 1,680 to Tk 3,360 for Grade 18 and Tk 1,800 to Tk 3,600 for Grade 17.

For Grades 16 to 13, the allowance will range from Tk 1,920 to Tk 3,840, Tk 2,040 to Tk 4,080, Tk 2,160 to Tk 4,560 and Tk 2,280 to Tk 4,800, respectively.

For Grades 12 to 6, the rates range from Tk 2,520 to Tk 5,280, Tk 2,640 to Tk 5,520, Tk 2,760 to Tk 5,640, Tk 2,880 to Tk 6,000, Tk 3,000 to Tk 6,240, Tk 3,120 to Tk 6,360 and Tk 3,240 to Tk 6,480, respectively.

Risk allowances for operational employees of the Fire Service and Civil Defence Directorate from Grade 10 to Grade 18 and equivalent positions have also been revised.

The monthly allowance for Grade 18 employees will range from Tk 1,680 to Tk 3,360, while Grade 17 employees will receive Tk 1,800 to Tk 3,600. The rates for Grades 16 and 15 will range from Tk 1,920 to Tk 3,840 and Tk 2,040 to Tk 4,080, respectively.

For Grades 14 to 10, the allowances will range from Tk 2,160 to Tk 4,560, Tk 2,280 to Tk 4,800, Tk 2,520 to Tk 5,280, Tk 2,640 to Tk 5,520 and Tk 3,240 to Tk 6,480, respectively.

Risk allowances for Deputy Jailers and employees below that rank have also been revised in five stages based on length of service.

Grade 17 jail guards, female jail guards and bodyguards will receive Tk 1,800 to Tk 3,600, while assistant head jail guards in Grade 16 will receive Tk 1,920 to Tk 3,840.

The allowance for head jail guards and matrons in Grade 15 will range from Tk 2,040 to Tk 4,080, while chief head jail guards in Grade 14 will receive Tk 2,160 to Tk 4,560. Sergeant instructors in Grade 13 will receive Tk 2,280 to Tk 4,800, and Deputy Jailers in Grade 11 will receive Tk 2,640 to Tk 5,520.

New risk allowances have also been fixed for nine categories of employees of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (Ansar-VDP). The rates range from Tk 1,560 to Tk 3,240 for armorers in Grade 19 and Tk 1,680 to Tk 3,360 for battalion Ansar personnel and sepoys in Grade 18.

New risk allowances have also been set for employees of the Bangladesh Coast Guard under the National Pay Scale.

The monthly allowance will be Tk 3,840 for MCPOs, Tk 3,000 for SCPOs, Tk 2,760 for CPOs and Tk 2,640 for POs.

LS personnel will receive Tk 2,280, AB/Leading personnel Tk 2,160, ODs Tk 1,800 and recruits Tk 1,740 per month.

Special allowances have also been fixed for officers and employees of the Special Response Battalion (SRB).

The Director General will receive Tk 28,800 per month, an Additional Director General Tk 26,400 and a Director Tk 19,200.

Deputy Directors, executive engineers and system analysts will receive Tk 15,600. Senior assistant directors, network administrators, law officers and computer programmers will receive Tk 12,000, while assistant directors and several other positions will receive Tk 10,200.

Sergeants, sub-inspectors and assistant sub-engineers will receive Tk 7,200, religious teachers Tk 6,600, and assistant sub-inspectors, cashiers and accountants Tk 4,800. Constables and cook constables will receive Tk 3,960, while office assistants and several other employees will receive up to Tk 3,600.

Risk allowances for employees of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) from Grades 10 to 20 have also been revised.

Grade 10 employees will receive Tk 3,240 to Tk 6,480 depending on length of service, while Grade 11 employees will receive Tk 2,640 to Tk 5,520.

The allowance for Grade 12 employees will range from Tk 2,520 to Tk 5,280, Grade 13 from Tk 2,280 to Tk 4,800 and Grade 14 from Tk 2,160 to Tk 4,560. Rates for Grades 15 to 20 have also been fixed according to grade and length of service.

Risk and special allowances have also been revised for employees of the NSI, DGFI, the investigation agency of the International Crimes Tribunal, the East and West Sundarbans forest divisions, the Directorate General of Health Services' leprosy and tuberculosis control programmes, relevant employees of the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics, and employees of the Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division.

Employees involved in the leprosy and tuberculosis control programmes of the Directorate General of Health Services, as well as relevant employees of designated upazila and civil surgeon offices, will receive a monthly risk allowance of Tk 900.

Selected Grade 13 to Grade 17 employees directly involved in printing and binding work at the publication section of the FA and MIS Wing of the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics will receive a monthly risk allowance of Tk 240.

The revised allowances in all cases will take effect from January 1, 2028. Until December 31, 2027, the employees concerned will continue to receive allowances under the existing rules and previous Finance Division orders.
