Banasree-Aftabnagar steel footbridge opens

The Banasree-Aftabnagar No. 2 steel footbridge was opened to the public on Wednesday to improve connectivity and ensure safer travel for residents and students.

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Shafiqul Islam Khan inaugurated the bridge, saying it was built following the government’s directive to ease traffic congestion and improve communication in the area.

The bridge, located near Farazi Hospital, is 42 metres long and 3.8 metres wide. It is part of a Tk 89.54 crore project to construct three bridges connecting Banasree and Aftabnagar.

The other two bridges, near Ideal School and Meradia Bazar, are also under construction, officials said.

The administrator urged local residents to help keep the area and nearby canal clean, saying the DNCC plans to clean and renovate the canal.
