Man dies of electrocution in Tongi

A man died after being electrocuted in the Dattapara area of Tongi, Gazipur, on Wednesday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Baten, son of late Abdul Kader of Manoharganj upazila in Cumilla.
Police said Baten went to the Banamala Railgate area of Dattapara around noon to cut tree branches. He came into contact with an electric wire while cutting the branches and was electrocuted.
Locals rescued him and took him to Shaheed Ahsan Ullah Master General Hospital in Tongi, where doctors declared him dead.
Tongi East Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Maksudul Alam confirmed the incident and said legal action would be taken.
