Liton on Sabbir’s national team comeback

Bangladesh T20I captain Liton Das said Sabbir Rahman remains in consideration for a return to the national team, though Yasser Ali Rabbi currently has a better chance.

Sabbir, 34, was the second-highest run-scorer in the recent Top End T20 tournament but was left out of Bangladesh’s Asian Games squad.

“Selectors, coaches and I all have him in our thoughts. The spot for lower-order batters is open, and whoever performs well will have a chance,” Liton said.

He added that Yasser, who recently returned to the team and performed well in Zimbabwe, would be given opportunities.

On replacing injured Mohammad Saifuddin, Liton said the selectors would decide soon. He also said Bangladesh currently have no obvious pace-bowling all-rounder available, though young players are being developed.
