UKMTO said the vessel’s Company Security Officer reported that it had been hit by an unknown projectile. The vessel caught fire and was left adrift following the incident.

All crew members were evacuated from the vessel, with two casualties reported, according to UKMTO.

Authorities are investigating the incident. No environmental impact has been reported so far.

UKMTO advised vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz to proceed with caution and report any suspicious activity to the agency.
