Jubo Dal leader dies after falling ill during protest march in Barishal

A Jubo Dal leader died after suddenly falling ill during an anti-terrorism protest march in Barishal city on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as GM Monir Hossain, 54, joint general secretary of Barishal Metropolitan Jubo Dal, fell ill around 12:30 PM while the procession was passing through Katpotti Road.

According to party sources, the Barishal district and metropolitan units of Jubo Dal organised the protest march in the morning against what they described as attempts to destabilise the country.

Monir was taking part in the procession when he suddenly collapsed on the road. Fellow protesters immediately took him to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, where duty doctors declared him dead.

He was a resident of Rokia Azim Road in the city.

His colleagues initially suspected that he died after suffering cardiac arrest, although the cause of death has not been officially confirmed.

District Jubo Dal Organising Secretary Hafiz Ahmed Bablu confirmed his death and said, "his sudden demise had cast a pall of grief over BNP and Jubo Dal activists."
