Swastika Mukherjee apologises to viewers

Indian actress Swastika Mukherjee apologised to contestants and studio audiences after her voice became hoarse while hosting the daily reality show ‘Didi No. 1’.

Hosting a daily show on television is a new experience for Swastika. She had previously hosted various award ceremonies, but presenting a daily show has been a new challenge for her.

Swastika took over as the host of the popular show after Rachna Banerjee, who had been its long-time presenter.

Speaking to the contestants and studio audience, Swastika said, “Please forgive me. Forgive me as one of your own. Today my voice sounds like a frog.”

She said working continuously in the cold air conditioning on the shooting set had put considerable strain on her throat. Unlike films or web series, reality shows require hosts to speak for long periods.

She added that the set could not keep the air conditioning off because of the heat generated by the numerous lights. At the same time, staying in air conditioning continuously could naturally lead to a cold.

Despite the physical discomfort, Swastika has continued with her work each time with determination.
