Young man killed by Cousins over land dispute in Bagerhat

A young man was killed allegedly in an attack by his cousins following a dispute over land in Rampal upazila of Bagerhat on Monday morning.

The deceased was identified as Ahad Ahmed, 24, son of Sheikh Fariduzzaman of Islamabad village in Rampal.

According to police, citing the victim’s family, Ahad’s family had been involved in a dispute over a piece of land with his cousins, Baki Billah and Masum.

The dispute escalated into an altercation on Monday morning over the drainage of water from the disputed land. Baki Billah and Masum allegedly attacked Ahad and his father, leaving both seriously injured.

Ahad died on the way to hospital. His father was admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.

Rampal Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rajib Al Rashid said, "police visited the scene after receiving information about the incident. The body was being sent to the morgue of Bagerhat Sadar Hospital for autopsy."

Police are conducting a drive to arrest those allegedly involved in the attack, he added.
