Young man found dead in hotel

Police recovered the body of a young man from a hotel room in Khulna city early Monday and detained a woman who was allegedly his wife.
The deceased was identified as Sohel Rana alias Babu, son of Lokman Fakir of Harintana Auto Stand Road in Lobonchora police station area.
Police recovered his body from Room 10 on the second floor of Kopotakkho Residential Hotel on Khan Jahan Ali Road under Sadar Police Station around 4:30 AM on Monday.
A police source said Babu and the woman, identified as Fatema, checked into the hotel around 7:00 PM on Saturday, introducing themselves as husband and wife. At one point, an argument reportedly broke out between them over a trivial matter.
Police suspect Fatema strangled Babu during the altercation. His body was later recovered and sent to the morgue of Khulna Medical College Hospital, while Fatema was taken into police custody.
Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Lokman Hossain Ripon said, "Babu had a wife who currently lives in Dhaka, but they had no contact. He had reportedly been in a long-term relationship with Fatema, who had been pressuring him to marry her."
According to the OC, Fatema initially told police that she strangled Babu with a scarf during an argument on Sunday night.
Fatema remains in police custody. Legal proceedings will be taken before the body is handed over to the family, the OC added.
