Mourinho displayed images depicting two incidents from the first half that he insisted warranted direct red cards for Atletico players.

Mourinho alleged that major refereeing errors altered the outcome of the match, claiming Atletico should have been reduced to nine men early in the contest.

"We could almost skip this press conference because the entire story of the match is right here," Mourinho told reporters while presenting the printed screenshots. "These were two clear red-card offenses. If we struggled playing 11 against 10 later, imagine what would have happened playing 11 against 9 for 50 minutes."

The derby defeat marked Real Madrid's second loss of the current La Liga campaign.

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone expressed delight over the victory and maintained a respectful stance when asked about Mourinho's criticism of the match officials.

"I respect everyone's opinions," Simeone stated. "As managers, we occupy a prominent position where every word is dissected, whether it is Mourinho, Flick, Manuel Pellegrini, or myself, so we must remain careful with our statements."
