Massive explosion hits Syrian munitions depot; 4 Injured

A powerful explosion struck a Syrian military ammunition depot near Aleppo early Monday, leaving at least four people injured and triggering a series of secondary detonations.

Rescue teams evacuated the injured to nearby hospitals following the blasts at an army facility near Al-Eis town, south of Aleppo, state news agency SANA reported. Authority officials have not yet determined the cause of the incident.

Aleppo Civil Defense chief Faisal Mohammad Ali confirmed that emergency responders successfully retrieved four injured individuals from the scene.

Journalists monitoring from the region reported hearing successive explosions miles away, with emergency vehicles and fire engines rushing toward the military site.

Aleppo Governor Azzam al-Gharib urged residents to remain indoors, confirming that regional medical centers and emergency response units have been placed on high alert.

Local security forces closed access roads leading to the blast site to ensure civilian safety.

Earlier this month, a similar ammunition depot explosion in northwestern Idlib province killed 14 people and injured 11 others.
