Woman stabbed to death in Gazipur

A 23-year-old woman was stabbed to death in the chest in the Ambag Ataur Market area under Konabari Police Station of Gazipur City Corporation on Sunday morning.

The incident occurred around 10:30AM on Sunday (September 20).

The deceased, Sanjida Akter, was the daughter of Shahjahan Hawlader from the Kotwali area of Barishal.

According to police and local residents, Sanjida lived in a rented house in the Ambag Ataur Market area.

A young man went to her residence in the morning and stabbed her in the chest before fleeing the scene. Sanjida sustained critical injuries and cried for help, prompting nearby residents to rush to her aid.

She was being taken to a hospital in critical condition when she died on the way.

Police went to the scene after receiving the information and recovered her body. The motive behind the killing was not immediately known.

Konabari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Iftekhar Hossain said, "police recovered the body after reaching the scene."

"Efforts were underway to arrest the suspect and that the incident was being investigated." he added.

Legal proceedings are also underway.
