A total of 527 people were arrested in regular raids conducted by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) across the capital over the past 24 hours.
Police also filed 55 cases during the period.
DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) Md Akter Hossain disclosed the information on Sunday (September 20).
Of those arrested, 52 were detained by the Ramna Division, 43 by Lalbagh, 57 by Wari, 63 by Motijheel, 79 by Tejgaon, 146 by Mirpur, 41 by Gulshan, 45 by Uttara and one by the Detective Branch.
During the raids, police recovered one unexploded cocktail, 500 grams of gunpowder, 500 grams of jute cloth, 250 grams of petrol, 35 grams of nails from an exploded cocktail, seven pieces of tin, 10 pieces of adhesive tape, 104 nails and parts of a tin container from an exploded cocktail.
The authorities also recovered 54.245 kg of cannabis, 4,115 yaba tablets, 21 grams of heroin and 50 bottles of Phensedyl cough syrup.
Other seized items included a private car, three knives, one machete, a small pair of scissors, one cutter, foil paper, gas lighters, a nylon rope, 14 mobile phones, two machines used to manufacture yaba, 2.6 kg of various chemicals, 454 grams of Benelia powder, 13 bottles of paint, 350 empty bottles and 1.5 kg of mixed ingredients used in yaba production. Two victims were also rescued during the operations.
Akter Hossain said police conducted raids in different police station areas across the capital and made the arrests while recovering various pieces of evidence and drugs.
Legal proceedings against those arrested are underway, he added.
