Apratim murder: Stolen iPhone recovered from suspect's house

Police have recovered the missing iPhone of a Comilla University teacher's murdered 13-year-old son from the house of a detained youth in Salmanpur.
Detectives retrieved the phone belonging to Associate Professor Dr Nahida Begum's son, Ishayat Shahriar Apratim, on Saturday night. Police confirmed the recovery following a raid based on information extracted from the suspect, Tuhin.
Additional Superintendent of Police Md Lutfur Rahman said details will be disclosed at a press conference on Sunday at 12:00 PM. He requested everyone to remain patient until the briefing.
Law enforcement officials said Detective Branch (DB) officers found the iPhone at the suspect's residence. Apratim went missing after leaving home carrying his mother's phone.
Initial evidence suggests the boy was killed for the mobile phone. However, police have not yet officially confirmed the exact motive behind the murder.
Earlier, the university proctorial team analyzed CCTV footage near the campus after Apratim disappeared. One video showed a cap-wearing youth walking with Apratim near the main gate. Another footage showed the same youth leading him away near the crime scene.
University authorities identified the youth with the help of locals and visited his home before the body was found. DB police later detained him from the Kotbari area on Saturday afternoon after recovering the body.
Following interrogation, detectives raided his house in Salmanpur around 8:00 PM on Saturday and recovered the phone.
