A 16-year-old madrasa student died under mysterious circumstances in Gurudaspur, Natore, and her body was sent to Rajshahi for forensic testing after an autopsy.

The student’s body was recovered from Hazrat Rabeya Basri Women’s Hafizia Madrasa in Shyampur Wapda Bazar area around 12:30 PM on Tuesday (September 15).

After an autopsy at Natore Modern Sadar Hospital, the body was sent to Rajshahi around 8 PM Wednesday (September 16) for further tests to determine the cause of death.

Police said no injury marks were found on the girl’s body. The madrasa superintendent and his wife were taken for questioning but were later released.

Witnesses said the girl’s mother initially claimed that her daughter had been injured after falling in the madrasa bathroom. There was also a claim that she had been electrocuted. Later, her mother alleged that her daughter had been murdered.

Gurudaspur police chief Abdul Hannan said the autopsy was conducted as part of the investigation despite the family’s objection. He said the body would be handed over to the family after the forensic examination.
