At least three people were injured following a violent clash between two rival factions of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) at Jagannath University (JnU) on Wednesday (September 16) night.
The incident occurred in the Kathaltala area in front of the Social Science Building following a concert organized by the university's JCD unit to mark a freshers' reception program.
According to eyewitnesses, two injured individuals suffered severe head trauma during the confrontation.
Witnesses reported that tensions began during the concert over an argument and pushing between activists belonging to opposing JCD groups, which later escalated into a full-scale physical clash outside the venue.
When contacted regarding the incident, JnU Proctor Professor Dr. Azam Khan stated that the administration had not been previously informed of the violence and pledged to investigate the matter once formal details were gathered.
Efforts to reach JnU JCD Convenor Mehedi Hasan Himel, alongside Joint Convenors Suman Sardar and Mustafizur Rahman Rumi, via phone for official comments yielded no response.
The identities of the injured and the specific triggers behind the conflict remain under verification.
