New leaks for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra indicate the flagship will retain its predecessor's 50MP 5x optical zoom camera, alongside upgrades to a 16MP selfie sensor, an M16 OLED display, and next-generation chipsets.

Telephoto Camera Rumors Debunked

Conflicting leaks surrounding the Galaxy S27 Ultra's telephoto system have recently been clarified by reliable tech tipster Roland Quandt. Early August reports hinted that Samsung was testing a new 50MP telephoto lens with a 4x optical zoom and a 1/1.9-inch sensor.

However, recent insider updates confirm that Samsung will instead stick with the 50MP 5x optical zoom telephoto camera equipped with a Sony sensor, mirroring the camera setup used in the Galaxy S26 Ultra.

Upgraded Selfie Sensor and Display Tech

While the rear cameras appear largely familiar—including the retention of the 50MP ultrawide lens—Samsung is planning a hardware boost for the front camera. The Galaxy S27 Ultra will feature an upgraded 16MP selfie snapper with autofocus, replacing the 12MP front sensor used in the previous generation.

Additionally, supply chain reports suggest the flagship will sport Samsung's newly unveiled M16 OLED display panel, offering improved power efficiency and higher peak brightness levels.

Processor Variants and Battery Testing

Under the hood, the Galaxy S27 Ultra is expected to be powered by Qualcomm's upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro processor in most markets. Select regional variants may ship with Samsung's in-house Exynos 2700 chipset.

Prototype leaks also reveal that Samsung is testing larger battery capacities—potentially reaching up to 5,700mAh—while maintaining 60W wired fast-charging support as the flagship prepares for its expected early launch window.

Samsung officials have confirmed that transition to silicon-carbon batteries may be introduced in the S27 series.
