Police recovered the hanging body of a 26-year-old man from a rented house in Hathazari municipality on Monday night.
The deceased was identified as Hafizur Rahman Sagar, son of Nabi Mridha of Lararkur village in Kachua upazila of Bagerhat.
Police recovered the body from a rented house in Badhu Mia Chowdhury Bari area under Ward 4 around 9:30 PM.
According to local residents, Sagar’s wife went to her workplace in the morning. She returned home in the evening and found the door locked from inside. After receiving no response, she looked through a gap in the wall and saw Sagar hanging inside.
Police later broke open the door and recovered the body. It was sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Sagar’s cousin Hanif said Sagar had been married for about two years. He reportedly developed some mental health problems after falling from a tree a few days ago. He worked as a construction worker.
Hanif said there had been no major problems in Sagar’s married life.
Hathazari Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Zahidur Rahman confirmed the recovery of the body.
