BGB recovers narcotics and smuggled goods at Daulatpur border

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recovered over Tk.14 lakhs in Indian narcotics and smuggled goods in separate operations at Daulatpur in Kushtia.

As part of the Kushtia Battalion-(47 BGB)'s sustained, strict stance against drug trafficking and smuggling along the Daulatpur border, the BGB conducted separate operations and recovered Indian narcotics and smuggled goods worth over Tk 14 lakh. 

Acting on a tip-off, a BGB patrol team conducted the operation at a location named 'West Dharmadah Math' within the West Dharmadah BOP's area of responsibility.

During the operation, 10 bottles of liquor from India and 2,880 pieces of Cyproheptadine tablets were recovered; curiously enough, these items were found abandoned. The estimated seizure value of the recovered narcotics is Tk. 8,79,000.

On the same day, another BGB patrol team conducted an operation on the 'Nichpara Kancha Road' (unpaved road) within the Ramkrishnapur BOP's area of responsibility. 

During this operation, 50 bottles of Indian liquor, 740 pieces of Cyproheptadine tablets, and 650 pieces of Dexamethasone tablets were recovered; these items were also found abandoned. The estimated seizure value of the recovered narcotics is Tk. 4,92,000.

Subsequently, on Monday (September 14), a BGB patrol team conducted an operation at a location known as 'Garura Graveyard' within the Pragpur BOP's area of responsibility. 

During this operation, 1,120 packets of Indian leaf bidis (hand-rolled cigarettes) were recovered, also found abandoned. The estimated seizure value of the recovered smuggled goods is Tk 61,600.

In the aforementioned separate operations, the BGB recovered Indian narcotics and smuggled goods with a total value of Tk. 14,32,600. The recovered narcotics and smuggled goods have been handed over to the relevant authorities for further legal action in accordance with regulations.

The Kushtia Battalion (47 BGB) has been intensifying intelligence activities, conducting regular patrols, and carrying out special operations to prevent drug trafficking and smuggling along the border.
