3 children died drowning in Ctg

Three children drowned in separate incidents in Satkania, Chattogram, on Monday, with two of the victims identified while the identity of another remained unknown.

The identified victims are Umme Manha, 5, daughter of Jiabul Haque of Ichamati Alinagar village in Pashchim Dhemsa union, and her maternal cousin, Md Ezahar, 7, son of Jamal Uddin of Keranihat in Keochia union.

Police said the two children were playing near their homes around noon when they fell into a nearby pond. Locals rescued them and took them to two private hospitals in Keranihat, where doctors declared them dead.

Later, around 3:30 PM, relatives brought an approximately two-year-old child to a private hospital in Keranihat after the child drowned. The child was declared dead, but the relatives took the body away before completing the hospital registration process, leaving the identity unknown.

Additional Superintendent of Police of Satkania Circle Md Ariful Islam Siddiqui said police had learned about the deaths of two children by drowning and had also received information about another unidentified child being taken to a hospital.

“The matter is being investigated,” he said.
