Police recovered the body of a battery-run tomtom driver from the Dhalai River in Kamalganj, Moulvibazar, around 30 hours after he went missing.
The body of Pritam Eric, 45, was recovered from the river near the Bhanugach Railway Bridge around 2 PM on Monday.
Earlier, local fishermen spotted the body floating in the river and informed police. Police later recovered it, with locals and police suspecting that the river current had carried the body downstream.
Pritam, son of Thomas Eric of South Baligaon Bottola area, was a tomtom driver.
According to locals, he fell into the river around 9:30 AM on Sunday after his tomtom lost control and plunged into the Dhalai River in South Kumrakapan area.
A rescue operation was launched by locals, police and Fire Service divers. The tomtom was recovered, but Pritam remained missing.
Kamalganj Police Station OC Md Komor Uddin said an inquest report would be prepared before the body is handed over to the family. An unnatural death case will be filed over the incident.
