Van driver’s hanging body recovered from house in Bagerhat's Fakirhat

Police recovered a hanging body of a van driver from the wooden beam of a house in Fakirhat upazila of Bagerhat on Sunday morning.

The deceased was identified as Sujon Sheikh,23, son of late Sheikh Abul Hossain of Hocha village.

Police and family members said Sujon’s wife, Hosneara Begum, found him hanging from the beam with a rope after waking up early Sunday. Hearing her screams, locals rushed to the spot and informed police.

Later, a team of Fakirhat Model Police Station, led by Sub-Inspector Md Mominul Islam, went to the scene, prepared an inquest report and recovered the body.

Hosneara said, "she her husband and their child had dinner together on Saturday night before going to sleep. She found Sujon hanging when she woke up in the early hours of Sunday."

She suspected that Sujon had died by suicide sometime during the night, but could not say what prompted him to take the step.

Fakirhat Model Police Station OC Md Rajiullah Khan confirmed the matter, saying the body had been recovered.

“The body will be handed over to the family after completing legal procedures. The exact cause of death will be known after receiving the autopsy report,” he said.
