Family of four killed in their sleep after massive blast

An entire family was killed in their sleep in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza. Two children and two other members of the same family were killed when Israeli forces struck a damaged house in the Beit Lahia area of Gaza on Thursday (September 10), Al Jazeera reported.
An official at Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City said the dismembered bodies of four members of the Ahmed family were recovered after an Israeli strike on a house in the Beit Lahia Project area of the Gaza Strip. He said the two children killed in the attack were aged 12 and 8.
Another source in Gaza said Israeli warplanes carried out strikes on Beit Lahia shortly after midnight on Wednesday and separately targeted the central area of the Jabalia refugee camp.
Israeli forces also bombed tents sheltering displaced people and targeted ambulances, the source added.
Although Israel agreed to a US-mediated ceasefire in October last year, it has continued to carry out regular airstrikes in Gaza. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has pledged to maintain pressure on Hamas, which led the October 7, 2023 attack on Israel. He has also said Israeli forces will not withdraw from Gaza until Hamas surrenders all its weapons.
According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, more than 1,300 people have been killed in Israeli attacks since the ceasefire was announced. The Israeli military, meanwhile, has confirmed the deaths of five soldiers and one civilian contractor during the same period.
