A 22-year-old college student has died of dengue fever while 20 new cases have been registered in the last 24 hours at Rajshahi Medical College (RAMEC) Hospital.
The deceased was identified as Jit Sarker, a resident of Bonpara, Natore. He died while undergoing treated for dengue shock syndrome.
According to Sheikh Shamim Ahmed of RAMEC Hospital, the death was reported around noon on Thursday (September 10).
The dengue fever bulletin from the RAMEC Hospital revealed that 20 new patients have been registered in the last 24 hours while 24 patients have been released after successful treatment. There was one death during the same period.
Jit Sarker had been admitted to the hospital around 6:20 PM on September 8 and died around 9:20 AM the next morning. He was registered dead of dengue shock syndrome.
With the addition of the new patients and releases of patients, there are currently 64 dengue patients under treatment at the hospital.
Sheikh Shamim Ahmed reported that treatment for the dengue patients is ongoing.
