The primary education curriculum will place special emphasis on developing students' speaking and listening skills, State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj said.

He made the remarks as chief guest at the 'Bangladesh TMTE (Training of Master Trainers in English) Member Conference 2026' held at Dhaka PTI on Wednesday (September 9).

Hajjaj highlighted that all four fundamental language skills - listening, speaking, reading, and writing - must be valued equally, with a foundational focus on listening comprehension in early grades. He stressed that improving language proficiency is essential to grant students access to global scientific and technological knowledge.

The State Minister stated that boosting literacy rates alone does not create an educated society, advocating instead for skill-based, career-oriented, and ethical education. He urged teachers to submit specific proposals on effectively using digital content, videos, workbooks, and interactive games alongside traditional textbooks.
