SSC re-scrutiny results to be published on Thursday

The results of the re-scrutiny of answer scripts for the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations will be published at 10AM on Thursday (September 10), with a record number of students applying this year.

Prof Syed Akhtaruzzaman, president of the Bangladesh Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee and chairman of the Dhaka Education Board, confirmed the matter on Wednesday.

''The results of the SSC and equivalent examination re-scrutiny will be published around 10AM tomorrow.''

He said the re-scrutiny process had been changed this year. For the first time, the answer scripts submitted for re-scrutiny were re-evaluated, rather than merely being checked for errors in the addition or transfer of marks.

Previously, the re-scrutiny process was largely limited to checking whether marks had been incorrectly added or omitted. Answer scripts were not fully evaluated again. This year, however, the boards have re-evaluated the scripts for which students applied for re-scrutiny, according to the Dhaka Education Board chairman.

Applications for re-scrutiny opened on August 11 and remained open until midnight on August 17. A total of 402,051 candidates from the country’s 11 education boards applied within the deadline.

As a candidate can seek re-scrutiny of multiple subjects, the total number of applications is significantly higher than the number of applicants. Across the 11 education boards, applications were submitted for 1,056,455 written examination scripts and 231,471 practical examination scripts, bringing the total number of answer scripts sought for re-scrutiny to 1,287,926.

The Dhaka Education Board received the highest number of applications. A total of 94,236 candidates applied for re-scrutiny of 277,665 written and 58,012 practical examination scripts.

The number of applicants was also high in other general education boards. More than 35,000 candidates applied in Cumilla, over 39,000 in Rajshahi, more than 28,000 in Jashore, over 39,000 in Chattogram, more than 17,000 in Barishal, over 20,000 in Sylhet, more than 37,000 in Dinajpur and 27,676 in Mymensingh.

Meanwhile, more than 40,000 candidates applied for re-scrutiny under the Madrasah Education Board, while the number exceeded 20,000 under the Technical Education Board.
