Former Anthropic researcher Jacob Coxon resigned over fears that Artificial Intelligence could end human life within this decade.

Coxon announced his resignation from Anthropic on X on Wednesday (September 9) morning, having previously worked at OpenAI. The 27-year-old researcher stated that AI labs are rushing toward self-improving super-intelligence without acting responsibly.

He spent three years researching pre-training at both OpenAI and Anthropic. Coxon alleged that companies are fully aware of the global extinction risks but remain locked in a dangerous race to reach superhuman capabilities first.

According to Coxon, super-intelligent AI systems could soon hack anything, acquire real-world power, and potentially eradicate humanity before 2030.

He added that many senior researchers and executives privately express deep fear about these existential threats, despite keeping their public statements carefully controlled.
