Gas supply to be cut in Dhaka, some other areas on Thursday

Gas supplies will be suspended in several areas of the capital for eight hours and across Bogura city and adjoining areas for 20 hours on Thursday (September 10) due to emergency maintenance and pipeline relocation works.

Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company and Pashchimanchal Gas Company Limited (PGCL) announced the outages in separate notices issued on Tuesday (September 8).

According to Titas Gas, gas supply will remain suspended from 1PM to 9PM on Thursday (September 10) in several areas of Dhaka as part of works to install valves on both sides of the railway tracks at the Shahjahanpur rail crossing and to relocate a distribution line for the Dhaka Elevated Expressway project.

The affected areas include Basabo, Khilgaon, Madertek, Shahjahanpur, Sipahibagh, Tilpapara, Malibagh, Shantibagh and Taltola Market, along with adjoining areas.

Gas supply to all residential and commercial customers in these areas will remain suspended during the eight-hour period. Customers in surrounding areas may also experience low gas pressure.

Meanwhile, PGCL said gas supply to Bogura city and adjacent areas will be suspended for 20 hours, from 8PM Thursday to 6PM Friday (September 11).

The company said the shutdown is necessary to carry out emergency tie-in and maintenance work on the gas pipeline from Banani to Tinmatha.

The outage will affect all categories of customers in Bogura city and surrounding areas, including residential and commercial consumers, industries, captive power plants and CNG filling stations.

Both Titas Gas and PGCL have expressed regret for the temporary inconvenience caused to customers.
