Police recovered the decomposed body of a youth four days after he went missing in Nawabganj of Dinajpur.
The body was recovered from a pit of an abandoned toilet in Maldah village under Daudpur Union No. 7 of the upazila on Monday afternoon.
Nawabganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Abdul Quddus confirmed the matter over the phone on Tuesday (September 8).
The deceased was identified as Mufidul Islam, 30, son of Lalu Mia of Maldah village under Daudpur Union.
According to police, citing local sources, Mufidul left home on Friday for personal work. He had been missing since then.
Family members searched for him at the homes of relatives and in different places but failed to find him.
On Monday afternoon, locals suddenly spotted a body inside the pit of an abandoned toilet in the village and informed police.
Later, police from Nawabganj Police Station went to the spot and recovered the body. It was in a decomposed condition.
OC Abdul Quddus said, "police prepared a preliminary report and sent the body to the morgue of Dinajpur M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital for autopsy."
"The exact cause of death will be known after receiving the autopsy report," he said.
