Autorickshaw-motorcycle collision leaves one dead in Netrokona

A person was killed and another injured in a head-on collision between a battery-powered autorickshaw and a motorcycle in Hogla Union at Purbadhola upazila of Netrokona.

The deceased was a motorcycle driver, Ganesh Chandra Sarkar, resident of Hogla Union. He was the son of Nikhil Chandra Sarkar. The injured is autorickshaw driver, Samsu Sheikh.

The accident occurred in front of Nazim Khan's sawmill in Hogla Bazar at around 10:15PM on Monday (September 7).

According to local sources, both drivers were seriously injured in the accident. Locals would later rescue the injured and took them to Purbadhola Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared the motorcycle driver Ganesh Chandra dead. The autorickshaw driver, Samsu Sheikh, who was seriously injured, was referred to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment as his condition deteriorated.

Purbadhala Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdullah Al Mamun said that upon receiving the news of the accident, the police arrived at the spot, prepared a post-mortem report on the deceased and completed the necessary legal procedures.

Afterwards, as the deceased's family had no objection, the body was handed over to the family. The injured Samsu Sheikh has been sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
