9 sent to court seeking remand in Savar police killing case

Police have sought 10 days’ remand for nine people arrested in a case filed over the killing of Special Branch Sub-Inspector Altab Hossain in Aminbazar, Savar.

The accused were taken to court from Savar Model Police Station around noon on Tuesday, said police.

Savar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Saiful Alam confirmed the matter.

According to police, the victim’s wife filed the case against 15 named individuals and 15 unidentified people following the killing. Three accused, including the prime accused Jahirul, were initially arrested by Savar police. RAB-10 arrested four others, while RAB-4 arrested another four.

The eight accused arrested by the RAB were handed over to Savar police on Monday afternoon. Police later arrested another accused that night.

The nine accused were sent to court on Tuesday seeking 10 days’ remand.

Jahirul, the prime accused in the case, is currently on a five-day remand, police said.

A total of 12 accused have so far been arrested in the case through joint operations by police and RAB.
