Woman sex worker dies in Daulatdia brothel attack, one arrested

A critically injured woman sex worker, Sonia Akter, from the alleged attack perpetrated by her fake husband at Daulatdia brothel in Goalanda Upazila of Rajbari has died.

Sonia succumbed to her injuries while getting treated at a private hospital in Dhanmondi of Dhaka at 10 AM Monday (September 7). A man, named Juwel, has been arrested in connection with the crime.

According to the police, Sonia sustained injuries after she was attacked on the night of August 29. The victim was first admitted to Goalanda Upazila Health Complex Hospital, but later she had to be admitted in hospitals in Faridpur and Dhaka as her condition worsened.

OC of Goalanda Ghat Police Station Shafiqul Islam said that the suspect, Juwel, has been questioned and he would be further questioned on remand. Police is also trying to arrest other culprits involved in the crime.
