Rail communication between Dhaka and northern region resumed after a disruption of around four and a half hours following the derailment of a coach of the Dhaka-bound Kurigram Express at Santahar Railway Station in Bogura.

According to railway authorities and local eyewitnesses, the intercity Kurigram Express, which had departed Kurigram for Dhaka, was entering Santahar Junction Station on Monday evening when one of its coaches suddenly derailed. The incident left the train stranded at the station, bringing rail services between Dhaka and the northern region to a complete halt.

No passengers were injured in the incident.

Following the derailment, a railway rescue team began recovery operations. At around 10PM, the derailed coach was detached from the rest of the train and moved to a safe location.

The Kurigram Express then resumed its journey to Dhaka with the remaining coaches.

A railway relief train arrived at the accident site at around 10:30PM. After nearly an hour of coordinated efforts, rescuers removed the derailed coach from the track and completed repairs to the damaged section of railway line.

After railway officials declared the track safe, train services on the northern route returned to normal from around 11:30PM.
