340.13 crore mega dev project for RUET approved

Aiming to develop and decorate the Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) and bring excellence in its education and research, a mega project worth Tk 340.13 crore has been approved by the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC).
ECNEC approved the project in the name of "Further Development Project of RUET" at its weekly meeting held at the NEC conference room with ECNEC Chairperson and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair on Wednesday, according to a RUET press release.
The statement said under the mega project, three academic buildings, a female dormitory and a male dormitory will be constructed. Besides, the extension work of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman hall, a teachers' quarter and dormitory, an officers' quarter, medical centre and residence of vice-chancellor would be completed with the funds.
Modern equipment will be set up in different labs of the university to ensure uninterrupted practical and research activities of the teachers and students.
RUET VC Professor Md. Rafiqul Alam Beg stated through the implementation of the project, it would be possible to make RUET as one of the modern engineering universities.
