Bus supervisor Saju Laskar and helper Mahbub Alam Moni have confessed to their involvement in the murder of a passenger whose body was recovered from the Dhaka Elevated Expressway.
A Dhaka court on Sunday recorded their confessional statements under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure and sent them to jail.
Meanwhile, Metropolitan Magistrate Ariful Islam granted four days remand to bus driver Sohel Rana. Police had sought seven days remand.
The three accused were produced before the court on Sunday. Saju and Moni voluntarily agreed to make confessional statements.
The victim, Ismail Hossain, had left Jamalpur for his home in Gazipur early on September 4, carrying Tk 500,000 from the sale of land, along with food items and other belongings.
His son, Md Hasan, waited for him at Jirani bus stand but later found his phone switched off. The following day, Banani Police informed the family that Ismail’s body had been recovered between pillars 179 and 180 of the Kakoli-Kuril section of the expressway.
The victim had injury marks on his body, while his nose, head and right wrist were wrapped with white Scotch tape. The cash and other belongings he was carrying were also missing.
Hasan later filed a murder case with Banani Police Station.
