The government has decided to increase net pensions for retired public servants by up to 100 per cent under the ninth national pay scale structure.

The cabinet approved a five-tier slab system designed to provide higher percentage increases to retirees who currently receive lower monthly payouts.

Under the new policy, retirees receiving up to Tk 9,000 in net monthly pension will get a 100 per cent increase, doubling their monthly payout to Tk 18,000.

Those earning between Tk 9,001 and Tk 20,000 will see a 75 per cent raise, while pensions between Tk 20,001 and Tk 30,000 will increase by 65 per cent.

For the slab between Tk 30,001 and Tk 40,000, the rate of increase is fixed at 60 per cent. Retirees drawing over Tk 40,000 in net monthly pension will receive a 55 per cent hike.

The final disbursement figures will be determined based on specific guidelines, limits, and post-retirement benefits outlined in the Finance Division's official notification.
