FDC to screen Salman Shah films marking 30th death anniversary

The Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) is set to host a three-day film screening program in memory of legendary Dhallywood actor Salman Shah, marking the 30th anniversary of his death.
The festival titled ‘In Memory of Salman Shah’ will begin on Sunday (September 6) and run through September 8 at BFDC’s VIP Projection Hall.
Three of Salman Shah’s popular movies will be screened as part of the program. The screening will begin at 4:00 PM each day. The shows will be open to the public for free of charge.
Salman Shah was one of the most iconic stars of Bangladeshi cinema. He died on September 6, 1996 at the age of 24. His brief but highly successful career and popularity continued to make him a celebrated figure among Bangladeshi film audiences.
Salman shah acted in 27 films during his four-year career. Decades after his death, he still remains a widely discussed figure among audiences of different generations. He’s remembered not only for his acting but also for his fashion and the mystery surrounding his death.
He was born on September 19, 1971 at his maternal grandparents’ home in Sylhet. During his childhood he also took music lessons at ‘Chhayanaut.’
He entered the entertainment industry as a model of television commercial way before making his debut in films.
In 1993, he made his big screen debut with ‘Keyamat Theke Keyamat,’ directed by Sohanur Rahman Sohan, opposite Moushumi. The film became a major success and introduced the Salman-Moushumi pair to the Dhallywood audiences.
However, Shabnur was his leading actress in 13 of his 27 films.
Some of his notable films include ‘Tumi Amar,’ ‘Antore Antore,’ ‘Sujon Sokhi,’ ‘Bikkhov,’ ‘Sneho,’ ‘Swapner Thikana,’ ‘Tomake Chai’ and many more.
Salman Shah married Samira Haque before entering the film industry. On September 6, 1996, his body was recovered from his residence in Eskaton, Dhaka.
Recently, his death mystery has taken a drastic turn as his friend and actor Don has been arrested and is accused in the murder case of Salman Shah.
FDC program aims to pay tribute to the late actor.
