Brick klin owner fined Tk 4 lakh for illegal fertilizer storage

Mobile court imposes Tk 4 lakh fine on the owner of a brick kiln where fertilizers are seized illegally stored in the brick kiln in Bhurungamari, Kurigram.

The search operation took place at around midnight on Tuesday in Gachidanga Kurarpar area under Paikerchhara Union headed by the Upazila Nirbahi Officer Amrit Deb Nath.

During the operation, 16 bags of urea fertilizer and seven bags of DAP fertilizer were seized from two rooms of the brick kiln owned by Mohammad Shafiqul Islam Khokon and imposed Tk 4 lakh fine on him for illegal storage of fertilizers.

During another operation at a fertilizer shop owned by Rafiqul Islam, nine bags of MOP fertilizer were seized and imposed Tk 5,000 fine on him.

It has been stated that some people are involved in illegal storage of fertilizers to create scarcity and sell them at higher rates. Such operations will continue to prevent the illegal stockpile and black market trade.

The seized fertilizers will be supplied to the local farmers at fixed government rate.
