Man killed in Tongi over drug dispute

A 40-year-old was killed after the attackers cut the tendons of both his legs in a dispute regarding drug dealing in Tongi, Gazipur.

The murder took place at 11:45 PM Tuesday (September 1) in a sand field in Gopalpur, Tongi East Police Station.

The victim was Nurul Islam, 40, who lived along with his family in a rented house in the area. According to the police, a group of some local youths dragged the victim from his house at 8 PM for the dispute of drugs. Then the accused dragged the victim to a sand field and attacked him with sharp weapons, injuring him severely with cutting both his legs.

The victim was hospitalized at Shaheed Ahsan Ullah Master General Hospital and was pronounced dead there.

Police arrested a youth, Jisan, on suspicion of involvement in the murder. The suspect was interrogating.

Tongi East Police OC Md Maksud Alam told the reporter that police were investigating the case and would act legally by identifying the suspects.
