Dengue death toll crosses 100

The death toll from dengue disease in the country has crossed 100, with five more deaths reported in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 102.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the figures in a statement on Tuesday.

More than 37,000 people have been infected with dengue disease across the country so far this year, according to the health authorities.

The latest deaths come amid a sharp rise in dengue hospitalisations. Recently, 996 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals in a single day - the highest daily admission figure recorded so far this year.
