Bangladesh India Friendship Power Company (Pvt.) Limited (BIFPCL) distributed educational materials among 315 students of Burirdanga Secondary School and Burirdanga Secondary Girl's School under Burirdanga Union of Mongla upazila in Bagerhat district on Tuesday (September 1).
The distributed items included 315 school bags, water bottles, umbrella tiffin boxes, bicycles, and other educational kits.
Later, two school buses were inaugurated for local students of Rampal and Mongla attending Maitree School at the Maitree Super Thermal Power Plant (MSTPP) in Rampal, Bagerhat. Around 100 local students will benefit from this bus service initiative by BIFPCL.
Presided over by Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) I/C Mr Anwarul Azim, Mongla Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sharmin Akter Sumi attended the distribution ceremony as the chief guest. Rampal UNO Tamanna Ferdausi and Mongla UNO Sharmin Akter Sumi jointly inaugurated the school bus services on the school premises at the power plant, where Head of Plant (HoP) Mr Abhishek Kumar was also present. DGM (HR) Mr Md Oziur Rahman served as the coordinator for the events.
Since its inception, BIFPCL has been implementing various community development activities in villages adjacent to the power plant in Rampal and Mongla upazilas of Bagerhat district. Installing safe drinking water treatment plants, organizing free medical camps, and distributing wheelchairs, sewing machines, blankets, and bicycles are among the ongoing initiatives conducted by the company for the local community.
