Prime Minister’s Adviser Dr Zahed Ur Rahman has said that the government will give due consideration to the benefits and welfare of journalists alongside the implementation of the new national pay scale.
''Good journalism is not possible unless journalists are assured of job security and a livelihood. The government will take steps on this issue soon.''
He made the remarks while responding to questions from journalists at a briefing on the progress of various government activities.
Asked about ensuring government benefits for journalists working at private newspapers and television channels, as well as implementing the ninth and 10th Wage Boards, Zahed Ur Rahman described the situation facing journalists as a 'real problem.'
He said the relevant ministry is working on the issue, including the challenges facing the electronic media sector.
