50kg cannabis seized, two held

Two alleged drug dealers have been arrested with 50 kilograms of cannabis at Mongla in Bagerhat by RAB-6.

On Tuesday morning around 3 AM, RAB conducted an operation near Dighraj bazar following a tip-off, where Gopal Sarker was arrested with a huge quantity of cannabis, which he is alleged to be bringing into Mongla through a vehicle.

Following the information given by him, another alleged drug dealer was arrested subsequently. Identity of the latter could not be ascertained yet.

As per RAB sources, Gopal Sarker, son of Shyam Sarker from the Kainmari area, had been supplying huge consignment of drugs to small-time dealers in Mongla and other areas in Bagerhat.

MP Sheikh Faridul Islam, state minister, who represents Bagerhat-3 constituency, mentioned in his social media account that anti-drug drive will continue to trace other people associated with the consignment.
