Complaint filed in Sonargoan over rape, video recording

A 21-year-old woman has filed a written complaint with the Sonargaon Police Station, alleging that she was forcibly raped, secretly filmed, and blackmailed by two local men in Char Hogla village under Shambhupura union, Sonargaon upazila.

The complaint names Md. Yamin (35), son of the late Nuru Mia, and Md. Ibrahim Khalil (30), son of Aslam Fakir, both residents of the local area.

According to the statement submitted on Monday, the victim’s husband has been living abroad for the past year and a half. The accused had repeatedly harassed and made improper suggestions to the victim prior to the incident. On the night of January 5, around 11:30 PM he suspects allegedly entered her home in a planned intrusion.

The complaint details that Yamin forcibly assaulted the victim while Ibrahim Khalil recorded the act on his mobile phone. Yamin subsequently used the video to blackmail her, threatening to disseminate the footage on the internet unless she agreed to marry him.

The victim further stated that the abuse resulted in a pregnancy. When she demanded that Yamin marry her, he refused, physically assaulted her, and threatened her at gunpoint to force an abortion.

Currently caring for her three children, the victim expressed severe fear for her family's safety and called on authorities to ensure swift legal justice and police protection.

Mohammad Abdul Barik, Officer-in-Charge of Sonargaon Police Station, confirmed receipt of the written complaint and stated that law enforcement is investigating the matter to take necessary legal action.
