Young man commits suicide over marital dispute in Dinajpur

A young man committed to suicide by hanging from a eucalyptus tree with a nylon rope after a dispute with his wife in Chirirbandar of Dinajpur.

The incident occurred on Monday (August 31) at around 7:00 AM in a banana orchard located north of the EPZ named Trillion Gold in the Fatejangpur Union of the upazila.

According to police and family sources, Sabuj Chandra Roy ,22, son of Sunil Chandra Roy of Satnala Union in the upazila, had fallen in love with and married a girl named Krishna. Later, due to frequent quarrels in their conjugal life, the young man committed suicide out of grief and frustration with his wife.

Following the incident, the deceased's father submitted an application for an unnatural death case at the police station.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the police station, Mahmudun Nabi Nabin, stated that based on the application from the deceased's father, police reached the scene and conducted an inquest of the body.

Since evidence of suicide was found, the body was handed over to the family upon their request, and an unnatural death case was filed. A handwritten note was also found in the pocket of the t-shirt he was wearing.
