An unidentified person’s body was recovered from the bank of the Meghna River near Betua Prashanti Park in Char Fasson upazila of Bhola. The body was found trapped among blocks of stone.

The face had become completely disfigured after the body remained in the water for a long time, making it impossible to identify the person initially.

According to locals, people spotted the body trapped among a pile of concrete blocks on the riverbank today (August 30). As the face was disfigured, it could not immediately be determined whether the deceased was male or female.

On information, a team from Char Fasson Police Station quickly reached the spot. Police recovered the body and began preparing an inquest report.

Char Fasson Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Khalilur Rahman said the body had been in the water for several days, causing decomposition and disfigurement of the face. Police suspect that the body may have drifted to the spot with the tide from a nearby area.

Efforts are underway to identify the deceased through DNA testing or other evidence. The body is being sent to the morgue at Bhola Sadar Hospital for an autopsy.
