Special committee formed to ease student visas for higher studies abroad

The government has formed a special committee to make the visa process easier for Bangladeshi students seeking higher education abroad, Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon has said.
The minister said students were now facing fewer difficulties in obtaining visas than before.
He made the remarks on Sunday after a meeting with the Foreign Minister and Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen.
Milon said initiatives had also been taken to further simplify visa procedures to improve the skills of Bangladeshi students and bring skilled teachers from China.
He said plans were discussed during his recent visit to China to explore opportunities for improving students' technical skills.
As part of the initiative, the government will launch a teacher exchange programme with China to improve teachers' language skills, he added.
The minister said activities under an education exchange programme with China would become visible within the next one to one-and-a-half months.
He said the initiative was expected to strengthen the skills of students and teachers and expand educational cooperation between Bangladesh and China.
