Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Dr Abdul Moin Khan has said that the government is making all-out efforts to contain the spread of dengue across the country, including through the two Dhaka city corporations.
He expressed hope that dengue could be kept under control this year if people remain vigilant and mosquito-control chemicals are applied properly.
The minister made the remarks on Sunday while briefing reporters after an emergency meeting of the Dengue Task Force Committee at the Secretariat.
''We are aware of the problems and needs of the people as their representatives. The two Dhaka city corporations are making every possible effort to keep dengue under control.''
Abdul Moin Khan said research is underway on mosquito-control sprays with assistance from Japan and several other countries, adding that, the government wants to ensure that preventive measures are implemented effectively.
